Wingfoiling Spot Guide Grenadines

Thanks to the best wind statistics in the Caribbean, the spots and islands in the Grenadines are ideal for wingfoiling. That’s why they’re the top choice for our wingfoil cruises in this area.

Cruise in the Grenadines

Salt Whistle Bay on Mayreau is a true gem for wingfoilers, offering a scenic setting combined with reliable wind. Widely considered one of the most stunning anchorages in the Caribbean, it’s a favorite among sailors and foilers alike.

The windward side features side-onshore winds and gentle kickers—ideal for smooth carving and playful rides. Thanks to the natural surroundings, each session becomes an unforgettable experience.

Beyond wingfoiling, Mayreau offers a relaxed island vibe, friendly locals, and a range of activities like snorkeling, diving, and hiking through picturesque trails and its small village.

With turquoise waters, steady trade winds, and untouched white beaches, the uninhabited islands of the Tobago Cays are a dream for wingfoilers.

The wide, shallow lagoons offer perfect flat-water conditions for safe freeriding and freestyle sessions. At the same time, the nearby reef offers great snorkeling and diving opportunities in stunning surroundings.

Wingfoiling here isn’t just about riding—it’s a unique adventure in one of the most idyllic places the Caribbean has to offer.

Surrounded by turquoise waters, this small sandbar provides pristine conditions for wingfoiling. While the shallow reef inside the lagoon requires caution, intermediate riders can safely launch from the catamaran and enjoy smooth rides beyond the coral edge.

Later on, a visit to Petit St. Vincent for a sunset drink is the perfect way to round off an unforgettable day on the water.

The Yacht

The yacht used for our wingfoil cruise is far from a typical charter boat—it’s specifically equipped for the needs of wingfoilers. Each cabin includes a private bathroom and shower for your comfort.

In addition, the yacht offers multiple chill-out areas where you can relax between sessions. Electricity is generated by solar panels, and we produce our own drinking water on board to avoid plastic waste.

Wingfoiling Grenadines

Wingfoiling in the Grenadines means gliding over crystal-clear flatwater while weaving your way between tropical islands. The conditions are ideal for all levels, from beginners to advanced riders.

Winds are typically moderate, so we recommend using wings between 4 and 5.5 meters. And yes downwinders from island to island are not only possible, they’re one of the highlights of the trip.

Life in the Grenadines

Starting your wingfoil trip by setting sail on a yacht is simply perfect. Just a few minutes after departure, you’ll feel completely at ease.

Each morning begins with a swim in warm, 26-degree water while the crew prepares a fresh breakfast at anchor.

Then, we kick off the day with our first wingfoil session.

By noon, we set course for a new island. As you enjoy a light snack on board, we glide toward the next beautiful anchorage.

In the evening, we meet on deck for a sundowner drink and enjoy dinner in the relaxed Caribbean atmosphere.

Sailing Times grenadines

There are no direct international flights to Union Island. Therefore, most guests fly into larger Caribbean hubs such as St. Vincent, Barbados, or Grenada, and then continue on a short domestic flight.

Alternatively, we can arrange a pick-up with our catamaran from one of the better-connected islands. This option transforms your arrival into the beginning of a true sailing adventure.

Here’s an overview of arrival options and approximate sailing times to the Grenadines:

Martinique (FDF): via Paris
Saint Lucia (SLU/UVF)
Saint Vincent (SVD)
Grenada (GND)
Union Island (UNI) or Carriacou (CRU) direct access—your trip starts right after landing

Please get in touch with us to discuss your travel plans and any pick-up arrangements.

When your first wingfoil session happens depends on your starting point.

Martinique: about 20 hours of sailing – you’ll be foiling two days after getting on board.
Saint Lucia: 12 hours of sailing – your first session will likely be the next afternoon.
Saint Vincent: 6 hours of sailing – you’ll hit the water the following morning.
Grenada: same as above – about 6 hours of sailing and foiling the next morning.
Union Island (Grenadines): step off the plane and you’re already there.

Contact us if you’d like help choosing the best starting point.

Wingfoiling in the Grenadines is truly exceptional, though many spots are offshore and accessible only by boat. Therefore, a certain level of confidence and independence is important.

You should be comfortable foiling in deep water, managing your equipment solo, and returning upwind if needed. If you’re still building those skills, let us know—coaching or support may be available during the trip.

The short answer: bring less than half of what you’d take on a regular beach holiday. Essentials include good sunscreen, a hat, and ideally a Lycra shirt for sun protection during the day.

You’ll only need a few items of clothing—some boardshorts or bikinis, T-shirts, and flip-flops. For the evenings, a light jumper or windbreaker is useful.

If possible, bring eco-friendly shampoo and soap, as everything ends up in the ocean. A refillable water bottle is highly recommended. And please pack using soft, collapsible bags for easy storage on board. Most importantly. Don’t forget your passport.

Wind Conditions:
During our travel period, you can expect steady trade winds around 15–25 knots, usually side-onshore or offshore – perfect for cruisy sessions and downwinders between the islands.

Recommended Wing Sizes by Body Weight:
50–65 kg (110–145 lbs): 3.5 m – 4.5 m
65–85 kg (145–185 lbs): 4.5 m – 5.5 m
85+ kg (185+ lbs): 5.5 m – 6.5 m

Boards & Foils:
Board: Mid-volume (80–110 L) for stable starts and easy handling
Foil: Mid-aspect, all-round foils around 1200–1600 cm² work great in light wind
Optional: A smaller front wing or shorter mast if you want to mix it up

Other Essentials:
Rash guard or shorty wetsuit: The water is warm, but the sun is strong
wing leash: Must-haves for open water sessions
Helmet & impact vest (optional): Great for chop or progression
Softboard bag or daypack: For easier storage on the boat
