Kitesurf and Wingfoil Cruise Bhamas / Exumas

The Bahamas and Exumas, once a haven for pirates, are today one of the most peaceful and breathtaking destinations in the Caribbean. The sense of adventure remains, now shaped by nature and serenity.

Moreover, the region offers turquoise waters, gentle breezes, and endless white sand beaches that invite you to slow down and enjoy the moment. It’s an ideal place to disconnect and unwind.

Because of this, a cruise through the Exumas is the perfect way to experience the islands. With more than 365 untouched cays and islets, every day brings a new discovery.

In the end, this journey isn’t just a trip—it’s a true escape. Whether you’re exploring new shores or simply soaking in the views, the Exumas will stay with you long after you’ve left.

Kite and Wingfoil Spot Guide Exumas

The spots mentioned here provide just a small preview of the many anchorages you can experience during a cruise through the Exumas. With over 365 cays, the possibilities are nearly endless.

Even so, we believe these selected places stand out. Their natural charm, peaceful settings, and unique character make them unforgettable stops along your journey.

These two islands often mark the beginning of our journey through the Exumas. Moreover, their surroundings are home to wide open bays and calm stretches—perfect for starting the adventure.

Two kite- and wingspots are waiting for us on those islands. One of them easy accessible and situated directly on our anchorage. The other one, – an upwind ride through a shallow Lagoon of about 20 minutes away. The Scenery will blow your mind!

Two unique locations await us on these islands. One lies directly at our anchorage and is easy to reach. Meanwhile, the other is about 20 minutes away, hidden beyond a shallow lagoon. The surroundings alone are worth the journey.

The Mice is a maze of small islands, shallow channels, and hidden lagoons. Because navigation is challenging, everyone often joins in on deck to help steer the yacht. The effort pays off with access to a surreal and remote island world—far from the usual routes and completely undisturbed.

Stanley Cay, known for its famous Pig Beach, is a highlight of our Exumas journey. Not far from here lies Sandy Cay, a peaceful island perfect for exploring. Later, we enjoy the evening at the laid-back Sailors Bar—one of the few moments we spend on land during the trip.

The Yacht

The yacht we use for our cruise is thoughtfully designed for comfort and sustainability. Each cabin features a private bathroom and shower, providing privacy and convenience during the journey. Additionally, the yacht offers multiple chill-out areas where guests can unwind and take in the surroundings. Electricity is supplied by solar panels, and we produce our own drinking water on board to avoid plastic bottles. This is far from a standard charter boat—it’s built with purpose and care for the experience we offer.

Kitesurfing Exumas

The kitesurfing conditions during our Kite and Wingfoil Cruise in the Exumas offer a mix of flat water, shallow lagoons, and scenic downwinders between islands. Winds are usually light, so we recommend packing larger kites. Heavier riders typically use 12-14m kites, while lighter riders use 10-12m. To fully enjoy all the spots on this kitesurf and wingfoil adventure, riders should be at least VDWS Level 5, meaning they can ride upwind confidently.

Wingfoiling Exumas

To us maybe the best Wingfoil Location we know… Wingfoiling in the Exumas, means flying above crystal clear water, in between the islands. In addition, the flat water makes the Exumas the perfect location for Wingfoilers of absolutely all levels. The Wind is usually not super strong, so we recommend wing sizes between 4 and 5.5 Meters. To summarize: For all of you who love downwinders – this is a must – on the Cruise!

Sailing in the Exumas

Sailing in the Exumas is a little like sailing in a swimming pool. The water really never gets deeper than 5 Meters, absolutely no waves, Seasickness is not an issue and literally the entire area is one huge, beautiful anchorage.

Life in the Exumas

There’s no better way to begin your Exumas journey than by setting sail on a yacht. Just minutes after leaving the harbor, a sense of calm and freedom sets in.

Each day on board starts with a refreshing swim in warm, crystal-clear waters while the crew prepares breakfast.

Afterwards, we begin our day’s activities—whether that means relaxing on deck or exploring the surroundings.

Around noon, we set course for a new anchorage. While enjoying a light snack on board, you can visit the famous swimming pigs or go for a short island walk.

As the sun begins to set, we gather on deck for a sundowner drink, followed by a laid-back dinner in the peaceful evening breeze.

Got questions about the Exumas? We've got answers

The starting point of our Exumas trip is the island of Nassau, Bahamas.

Direct flights from Europe to Nassau are rare. Typically, you fly to Miami and then transfer to Nassau. Once at the airport, we recommend that you take a taxi for the last few meters to the meeting point. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Our team will be waiting for you at our in the north-east of the island. Here our boat will be anchored in the Fort Montague bay. We will pick you up at the beach close to the Fort Montague and close to Maxxis Bar. Check in on the boat with a welcome cocktail on our ship is from 18.00 on the day of your arrival.

The Meeting point and check in on the boat will be at Fort Montague, Nassau, in the evening. The next morning we will set sail and head to the Exumas, Little Normans Cay. After a 6-7 hour sail, we will have our first kite and wing session in the afternoon.

The short answer would be – less than half of what you bring on a normal beach holiday. What you need is good sunscreen, ideally a hat and a Lycra shirt to protect you from the sun. You need a couple of Boardshorts / Bikinis, T-Shirts and FlipFlops. A windbreaker or a jumper for the evenings is a good idea. If you can, bring natural shampoo and soap, as it will all go into the ocean right away. A bottle to refill with drinking water is recommended. Please pack in soft, collapsible bags to allow easy storage. And don´t forget your passport.
