Plan Your Ocean Ad-Ventures Cruise

Kitesurf & Wingfoil Cruise FAQs

Planning a kitesurf, wingfoil or sailing cruise with Ocean Ad-Ventures? Here you will find answers to the most common questions about booking, payments, life aboard, meals, equipment, rider levels and preparing for your trip.

Routes, conditions and services can vary between destinations. Please also check the relevant destination page or contact our crew for advice based on your experience and travel plans.

Life Aboard the Catamaran

Practical information about the yacht, crew, meals and everyday life during your cruise.

Is Wi-Fi available on the yachts?

Our yachts normally provide Wi-Fi through the onboard connection. It is generally suitable for messages, email and basic browsing, but coverage and speed depend on the yacht’s location, network availability and onboard system. Video calls, large downloads and streaming cannot be guaranteed.

If reliable connectivity is essential, tell our crew before booking and consider arranging an eSIM or local data plan as a backup.

How many guests and crew will be aboard?

Our cruises normally welcome a maximum of eight guests, together with two or three crew members. The crew includes a qualified skipper and chef. An additional watersports instructor or guide may join when required for the booked programme.

Guest numbers, yacht layout and crew composition are confirmed for each individual cruise.

Can I participate in the sailing?

Yes. You can take the helm, help trim the sails and learn about navigation, anchoring and life aboard with guidance from your skipper. Participation is always optional, so you are equally welcome to relax and enjoy the journey.

Read more about sailing with Ocean Ad-Ventures, including practical experience and documenting nautical miles.

Are bedding and towels provided?

One set of bed linen and bath towels is provided. We recommend bringing a lightweight beach towel for swimming, watersports and visits ashore.

What electricity and charging facilities are available?

Charging facilities vary by yacht but normally include European sockets and USB connections. We recommend bringing a compact universal travel adapter and confirming any essential requirements with our crew before departure.

Electricity aboard is a limited resource. Please avoid bringing high-consumption appliances such as hairdryers unless their use has been approved in advance.

How is drinking water provided?

Our yachts produce fresh water with an onboard watermaker. Please bring a refillable drinking bottle and use water responsibly, as both water and electricity production require energy aboard.

What meals and drinks are included?

Unless your individual offer states otherwise, breakfast, lunch and dinner aboard, snacks, drinking water and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks are included. Menus depend on local availability and the provisioning possibilities at the destination.

Alcoholic drinks and food or drinks purchased in restaurants, beach bars or cafés are not included. Always check the inclusions shown in your specific cruise offer.

Can you accommodate allergies or special diets?

Please tell us about allergies and dietary requirements before booking. Our chef will adapt the shared menu where reasonably possible, but separate individual meals and the availability of specialist products cannot be guaranteed, particularly in remote destinations.

Guests with serious allergies should discuss their requirements directly with our team before confirming the cruise.

Are paddleboards and snorkelling equipment available?

Our yachts normally carry a stand-up paddleboard and a selection of snorkelling equipment for shared use. Exact quantities and sizes vary, so bring your own mask if a perfect fit is important to you.

Booking, Payments and Cancellations

How to secure your cruise, pay the balance and understand the applicable booking conditions.

How do I book my cruise?

Start by sending a cruise booking request by form, email or WhatsApp. We will check availability, discuss your preferred destination and confirm the yacht, dates, price and services in writing.

Your booking is secured after we receive the required deposit and issue the booking confirmation.

Welche Bezahlungsmethoden gibt es?

A deposit of 30% of the total charter price is required at the time of booking. The remaining 70% must be paid no later than eight weeks before departure.

Payments can be made by bank transfer in euros (EUR) or US dollars (USD). Credit card payments are also accepted and are subject to a 3% processing fee. Any bank, currency-conversion or intermediary charges are payable by the customer.

What happens if I cancel my booking?

Cancellation charges depend on when we receive your cancellation and are governed by the Terms & Conditions accepted with your booking. Please review the current Ocean Ad-Ventures cancellation and refund conditions before paying your deposit.

If Ocean Ad-Ventures cancels a confirmed trip and no suitable alternative is available, payments received for the cancelled trip will be refunded in accordance with those Terms & Conditions.

Can I join as a solo traveller?

Yes. Solo travellers can either share a twin cabin with another guest or request a cabin for single use, subject to availability and the applicable supplement. We will explain the available options for your chosen departure before booking.

Can I join without kitesurfing or wingfoiling?

Absolutely. Non-riders are welcome aboard. Depending on the destination, you can sail, swim, snorkel, paddleboard, explore islands and beaches or simply relax on deck. Read more about life aboard our adventure cruises.

Can minors join a cruise?

Minors may join when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Suitability depends on the child’s age, the yacht, route, planned activities and sea conditions, so families should contact us before booking.

Kitesurfing and Wingfoiling

Rider levels, lessons, conditions and support during your cruise.

What kitesurfing or wingfoil level do I need?

Independent riders should be able to select and prepare suitable equipment, ride upwind, recover their board or equipment and return safely to the yacht or agreed meeting point. Kitesurfers should also be able to launch, land and body-drag upwind safely.

Less experienced riders and complete beginners may join selected cruises with a pre-arranged lesson or support package. Suitability depends on the destination, itinerary and expected conditions, so contact us before booking if you are uncertain about your level.

Can I learn kitesurfing or wingfoiling during the cruise?

Beginner training and progression coaching are available on selected cruises. Lessons must be discussed and reserved before departure because suitable teaching locations, instructors and daily conditions cannot be guaranteed on every route.

Explore our kitesurf lesson packages and wingfoil lesson packages. These packages are optional extras for guests with a confirmed cruise booking.

Is watersports assistance included?

The crew provides spot briefings, practical guidance and safety support appropriate to the destination and booked programme. This does not replace lessons or continuous supervision for riders who are not yet independent.

Upwind shuttles, additional assistance, lessons and coaching may require a pre-booked support package. Your individual offer and booking confirmation specify exactly what is included.

What wind and water conditions can I expect?

Conditions vary significantly between the Caribbean and Mediterranean destinations and from one week to another. Some routes offer protected flat-water areas, while others include deeper water, ocean swell, stronger currents or offshore launches.

Visit the relevant Ocean Ad-Ventures destination page for seasonal information, or ask our crew which cruise best matches your level and preferred riding style.

Which kite or wing sizes should I bring?

The right sizes depend on your weight, equipment, riding style, destination and forecast. Rather than relying on one universal recommendation, send us your weight and normal equipment range before departure. Our crew will advise you based on the expected conditions for your specific cruise.

Remember to bring your own harness, suitable sun protection and any personal safety equipment specified in your pre-departure information.

Equipment Rental and Protection

Bringing your own gear, renting equipment and dealing with accidental damage.

Can I rent kitesurfing or wingfoil equipment aboard?

Yes. Full-trip DUOTONE rental packages are available to confirmed cruise guests, subject to rider level, equipment sizes and availability. Equipment rental should be reserved before departure and cannot be booked as a standalone service without a cruise.

View the current kitesurf equipment rental options oder wingfoil equipment rental options. Harnesses are not included.

Can I bring my own equipment?

Yes. Please tell us the type, dimensions and number of bags before travelling so we can confirm storage arrangements. Bring equipment in a protective bag and follow the crew’s instructions for securing it aboard.

What happens if rental equipment is damaged?

Guests are responsible for rented equipment. Damage or loss must normally be settled before leaving the yacht unless it falls within the conditions of a pre-purchased GearSafe+ package. Details, limitations and exclusions are explained in the Equipment Rental and GearSafe+ Terms.

Is GearSafe+ an insurance policy?

No. GearSafe+ is an optional equipment-protection product offered by Ocean Ad-Ventures; it is not an insurance policy and is not provided by an insurer. Its benefits depend on the package purchased and remain subject to the exclusions in our Terms & Conditions.

Do I still need travel and sports insurance?

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that expressly covers all activities you plan to undertake, including sailing, kitesurfing, wingfoiling, swimming, snorkelling and shore excursions. Recommended protection includes overseas medical treatment, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation and baggage cover.

You are responsible for checking the geographical limits, activity definitions, exclusions and level of cover directly with the insurer. GearSafe+ does not replace travel, medical or liability insurance.

Preparing for Your Cruise

What is included, what to pack and which documents and personal preparations are required.

What is included in the cruise price?

Standard inclusions normally cover accommodation aboard, crew, meals and non-alcoholic drinks aboard, yacht-related operating costs and shared leisure equipment such as snorkelling gear and a paddleboard. Exact inclusions vary by cruise and are listed in your individual offer.

Flights, airport transfers, alcoholic drinks, restaurant visits, lessons, rental equipment, optional protection packages and personal travel insurance are not included unless expressly stated.

Wie sieht ein typischer Tag an Board aus?

A day might begin with a swim and breakfast, followed by a watersports session, sailing or an island visit. The yacht may then move to another anchorage while lunch is served. Depending on the conditions, the afternoon can bring another session, snorkelling, a beach excursion or time to relax aboard.

There is no fixed daily programme. Weather, sea conditions, safety, the route and the interests of the group shape each day.

How many riding spots or islands will we visit?

The number cannot be guaranteed. It depends on the route, cruise duration, weather, sea state, rider level and interests of the group. The skipper adapts the itinerary to create the best possible experience while keeping the yacht and guests safe.

What should I pack?

Pack lightly and use a soft, collapsible bag rather than a hard suitcase. Useful items include:

  • Swimwear and lightweight casual clothing
  • A hat, high-protection sunscreen and UV-protective shirt
  • A light jumper or windbreaker
  • Flip-flops or deck-friendly footwear
  • A lightweight beach towel and refillable water bottle
  • Biodegradable toiletries where possible
  • Personal medication and suitable seasickness remedies
  • Your passport, travel documents and insurance details

Your cruise confirmation will include any route-specific equipment recommendations.

What passport or visa requirements apply?

Guests are responsible for holding passports, visas and entry documents valid for every country visited. Requirements depend on nationality, residence, route and transit airports and can change at short notice.

Check official government sources before travelling. The crew may temporarily require your passport to complete immigration, customs and port-clearance procedures.

What level of health and fitness is required?

Guests must be physically and mentally fit for the booked activities and able to swim independently in deep water for at least 20 minutes. Yacht access, movement aboard, dinghy transfers and watersports can require balance, mobility and moderate physical effort.

If you have a medical condition, limited mobility or concerns about participation, contact us before booking and seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.

How much spending money should I bring?

Your personal budget depends on restaurant visits, beach bars, excursions, souvenirs, alcoholic drinks and crew gratuities. Card payment is not available everywhere in remote islands, so bring a reasonable amount of cash in the currency recommended in your pre-departure information.
