Navegación to the Caribbean

Overall, November offers a unique opportunity for a transatlantic crossing to the Caribbean with favorable winds and temperatures.

Trade Winds: In November, the trade winds start to strengthen as the hurricane season winds down. These winds generally blow from the east-northeast, providing consistent sailing conditions, perfect for heading from the east to the Caribbean. Based on weather conditions, we will adjust the route accordingly.

Sailing the Atlantic

You do not need any sailing experience in order to join our crossing uncharted. You will become part of the Crew and learn how to sail the Catamaran. For sure there is enough time to do so 😉

Your Atlantic Crossing includes all essentials for a comfortable and adventurous journey:

  • Food: Meals, snacks and Softrinks for the duration of the journey. Everybody will help in the kitchen to prepare the food.
  • Accommodation: A shared double cabin with a private bathroom.
  • Experience: A hands-on sailing adventure guided by experienced skippers.

  • Unforgettable Moments: From stargazing under clear skies to spotting dolphins and feeling the thrill of open-ocean sailing, every day brings memories you’ll cherish.

Your crossing can begin from either the Canary Islands or Cape Verde:

  • Canary Islands: Known for their mild climate and steady trade winds, the Canaries offer a classic start to the Atlantic crossing. From here we will sail down to Cape Verde to start the real crossing.
  • Cape Verde: Located closer to the equator, Cape Verde shortens the crossing time. From here we will go offshore right away until we will arrive in St. Lucia in the Caribbean.

The duration of the crossing depends on the starting location and the wind conditions:

  • From the Canary Islands: Up to 4 weeks, allowing time to stop in Cape Verde and to cover the distance comfortably while enjoying ocean life.
  • From Cape Verde: Approximately 2-3 weeks, though this can vary depending on weather and sea conditions.

No prior sailing experience is required! This trip is designed for everyone, from beginners to seasoned sailors:

  • Learning Opportunity: You’ll get hands-on sailing practice as you help with daily tasks, including sailing, navigation, and night shifts.
  • Guidance: Two licensed skippers will lead the way, providing instruction and ensuring everyone’s safety.

Seasickness is common in the first few days as you adjust to the boat’s movement. However, most people adapt quickly and can enjoy the experience:

  • Tips: Bring seasickness pills, ginger, and focus on the horizon to ease symptoms.
  • Comfort Over Time: After the initial adjustment, you’ll likely find yourself accustomed to the movement.

Expect to spend around 2 weeks without sight of land, though this can vary depending on conditions and pace. Some crossings may take a few extra days.
