The Catamaran is equipped with all the safety equipment needed for a secure crossing.

Navegación to the Caribbean

November offers a rare and exciting opportunity for a transatlantic crossing to the Caribbean, with ideal winds and temperatures for an unforgettable sailing adventure.

Trade Winds:

As the hurricane season winds down, the trade winds in November begin to strengthen. These winds, blowing from the east-northeast, create consistent and reliable sailing conditions, making this the perfect time to journey from the east to the Caribbean. Based on real-time weather conditions, we’ll adapt our route to ensure the best possible sailing experience.

The Barefoot Route:

This crossing is often referred to as the Barefoot Route, named for the generally relaxed and easy sailing conditions which can be expected along the way. Enjoy the simplicity and freedom of life at sea as you make your way toward the warm, welcoming shores of the Caribbean.

Sailing the Atlantic

You do not need any sailing experience in order to join our Atlantic Crossing. You will become part of the Crew and learn and will gain experience along the way.

You’ll Cross Several Time Zones
As you head west, the time will shift about one hour every 15° of longitude, meaning you’ll have to adjust your clocks back by around 4-5 hours before reaching the Caribbean.

Your First Sight of Land Will Be Unforgettable 🏝️🥂
After weeks at sea, spotting the first palm-fringed island—often Barbados, St. Lucia, or Martinique—is an emotional and exhilarating moment. Many crews celebrate their arrival with a fresh tropical drink and a swim in the turquoise waters.

The Sky Is Unlike Anything You’ve Ever Seen
With zero light pollution, the night sky in the middle of the Atlantic is breathtaking. The Milky Way stretches across the horizon, shooting stars streak through the dark, and you can even see passing satellites.

Flying Fish Will “Attack” Your Deck 🐟💨
The warm Atlantic waters are home to countless flying fish, which sometimes miscalculate their jumps and land on deck at night. Sailors often wake up to find them scattered across the boat!

Did you know that Christopher Columbus’ first transatlantic voyage in 1492 followed almost the exact same route as we will take when crossing from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean?

Completing an Atlantic Crossing Is a Major Achievement 🎖️
Sailing across the Atlantic from the Canaries to the Caribbean is a bucket-list adventure and a milestone for any sailor. It’s a test of endurance, navigation, teamwork, and patience—an experience that changes you forever

Got questions about the Atlantic Crossing UNCHARTED? We've got respuestas!

Your Atlantic Crossing includes all essentials for a comfortable and adventurous journey:

Your crossing can begin from either the Canary Islands or Cape Verde:

  • Canary Islands: Known for their mild climate and steady trade winds, the Canaries offer a classic start to the Atlantic crossing. From here we will sail south to Cape Verde, where we make a short stop.
  • Cape Verde: Located closer to the equator, Cape Verde shortens the crossing time. From here we will go offshore right away until we will arrive in St. Lucia in the Caribbean.

The duration of the crossing depends on the starting location and the wind conditions:

  • From the Canary Islands: Approximately 3 weeks, allowing time to stop in Cape Verde and to cover the distance comfortably while enjoying ocean life.
  • From Cape Verde: Approximately 2 weeks, though this can vary depending on weather and sea conditions.

No prior sailing experience is required! This trip is designed for everyone, from beginners to seasoned sailors:

  • Learning Opportunity: You’ll get hands-on sailing practice as you help with daily tasks, including sailing, navigation, and night shifts.
  • Guidance: Two licensed skippers will lead the way, providing instruction and ensuring everyone’s safety.

Seasickness is common in the first few days as you adjust to the boat’s movement. However, most people adapt quickly and can enjoy the experience:

  • Tips: Bring seasickness pills, ginger, and focus on the horizon to ease symptoms.
  • Comfort Over Time: After the initial adjustment, you’ll likely find yourself accustomed to the movement.

Expect to spend around 2 weeks without sight of land, though this can vary depending on conditions and pace. Some crossings may take a few extra days.
